Preparations (Still)

Well, I booked my flight last week (YAY!). Although it was a small (OK, maybe big) headache, it was such a relief to know I could check it off my to-do list. I found out that my placement will end earlier than I thought-- the end of April-- so, I will be able to make it back for graduation. :)

About my flight: I leave January 22 at 3:30 p.m. from Atlanta and arrive in L.A. around 8:30p.m. My flight from L.A. leaves at 10:30 p.m. headed for Brisbane Australia. From Brisbane, my last flight will take me to Perth. It will be January 23 at around 10:30 p.m. in Alabama (Yes, 30 hours later). However, because Perth is 14 hours ahead of Alabama, it will be around 12:30 p.m. Sunday afternoon when I land. I must admit- I am a little nervous about flying.

Preparations: The Beginning

Well, this is my "test" post.

I am getting very anxious about my trip! I sent off my visa application today, and I will be (hopefully) booking my flight within the next week. I plan to fly to L.A. then leave the states around January 20-something. My placement at Belmont City College is February 1-May 15.

I may be up all night because I am finding stuff about the city I will be living in- Perth. It is on the west coast. This is what I can be expecting as far as the weather goes when I am there:

Summer in Perth:
The official start of summer in Perth is December, finishing 3 months later at the end of February. The weather is warm to hot over the summer months, although the hottest months are usually January and February. The weather is fine and dry, and rain at this time of year is very unusual. Perth also enjoys a refreshing afternoon sea breeze known as the Fremantle Doctor which brings welcome relief on hot days.
Autumn in Perth: Autumn begins in March and finishes at the end of May, although autumn in Perth is not typical of autumns most people would be familiar with. Autumn in Perth is like an extension of summer, or perhaps a second spring. With warm sunny days and cooler nights, there is still plenty of sunshine left before the onset of winter. Although the weather is still mostly fine, there may be an occasional shower or humidity.

I really wanted to create this blog to keep in touch with family and friends. I will be 15 hours ahead of everyone. :)
