When you miss your flight to Australia, you get to spend the weekend in L.A.

Because of delays in Atlanta, our flight from Charlotte, NC did not land in L.A. until 9:10. We were scheduled to fly out of L.A. at 10:35. In between flights we had to get out luggage and recheck it with Vaustralia. We rushed straight to the US Airways baggage claim and waited for the luggage to come out. Unfortunately, our luggage did not ever come (everyone on the flight from Atlanta was missing their luggage). We soon found out that our luggage was still in North Carolina and that it would not be in L.A. until the next morning. Without our luggage and after missing our flight, Susan and I were put on the wait list for the flight that would be going out on the next day.

We took advantage of our day in L.A by taking a shuttle bus out to Santa Monica, where we ate and walked on the pier. It was such a beautiful day, and we had high hopes that we would be able to get on the flight leaving out at 8:10 p.m. So, we went to the airport around 6 p.m. and waited. There were not any extra seats; therefore, we are now on the wait list for tomorrow night.
